I recently talked about Voice and other topics with Brynn Plummer, VP of Community Relations and Inclusion at Nashville Entrepreneur Center. Here is some of the great knowledge she dropped.
-
I don't think I realized that this isn't like some abstract future state technology or adoption that we will move to in 10-20s, but rather this is about adding Voice to your suite of marketing and discovery tools immediately and that businesses will be expected to have Alexa Skills and Google Actions in the next 18-24 months. I don't think I realized how quickly that date was coming.
-
In much the same way that we expect businesses to have a website now, we will expect them to have a voice component in the next 18-24 months and that just really hit me like a ton of bricks.
-
This is not just something that would be cool for a business to have, but this is a must-have, must-develop now.
-
And in comparison to a lot of other competencies, tools and resources that you need to acquire as you're starting a business, (voice) in comparison is relatively low lift to get started on.
-
And in that way, it seems like a really powerful tool for equalizing the performance of businesses, especially businesses that don't have access to a lot of technologically advanced tools. You can really just open an app up if you have a smartphone, and make it happen.
