Coming from the Cyber Security world, Dr. Paul McNeil of MB Usable Security joins me at The Voice Event 2020 in this interview to talk about how to ensure privacy protection and data security within voice apps.
Paul says it's similar to what a small business should be thinking about securing user data in the real physical world. Think about who is going to have access to the data where you're storing it, after the fact. You want to also think about if you need to encrypt the data that you're offloading.
Think about where you're storing your data and if it's secure enough.
Put yourself in the customer's shoes, and ask yourself, if this were my personal data, what would I want done with it?
I also ask him if there are any cybersecurity concerns that are specific to voice apps that might be often overlooked?
Paul adds that context is super important. Where are people using these applications? For example, is the type of information I'm asking for actually something that someone should be saying out loud?
